Sasha Allen, the openly-transgender female transgender singer who made it to the Live Shows on the Voice, made history in their first appearance. Sasha Allen was the very first during the 21 years of The Vocal competitions Sasha was able to get past the Battle Rounds. This Newtown, Conn. duo have made it into the top 8 of the competition! Sasha revealed that he was transgender while preparing to participate in The Blind Auditions, and he said to Parade.com that this was a choice that took thought and consideration. Sasha made the transition in highschool, and acknowledged that it is hard to openly reveal a vulnerable side of himself to people. Last week, during the fans week, witnessing the love and support of fans, their reactions as well as the ways that affected people showed it that it was well-worth the risk. "We performed it long before The Voice was even a event for us. We received the song and we were delighted. We had heard of the song and had some thoughts on how to arrange it. I was astonished by that the crowd hit the nail on the head."
