Avery Sunshine
Avery Sunshine is a mercurial music producer and singer, who mixes Soul gospel Jazz and R&B with a distinctive mix. The singer has worked everywhere from Broadway up to The Democratic National Convention to the European club and festival scenes. Sunshine was born Denise White. Although she is based in Atlanta, her roots are located in Chester Pennsylvania. There she first began to develop an interest in music, performing and singing in a church. She went to Spellman College in Atlanta where she started her journey into music within the Atlanta's R&B scene. She was named the principal keyboardist for Tyler Perry's musical Meet the Browns in 2005. Jennifer Holliday, a Grammy as well as Tony Award winning vocalist who has worked on stage production Dreamgirls during the National Black Arts Festival of Atlanta in 2007, approached her to serve as the choir leader of the production. Sunshine was the subject of national media interest during four consecutive performances at the 2008 Democratic National Convention and was subsequently invited to sing at the inauguration of President Obama in 2009.
